WishList Blick Master Etch Press The Blick Master Etch Press is built for long-term institutional and studio use. It's a precision tool of intermediate size, durable enough for classroom use and versatile enough for any studio. The press is made of lightweight contemporary materials, but it has weight where weight is needed for strength — in the steel rollers. We invite you to compare our price and the following features to other presses this size: An easy-turn four-point handle operates the finely threaded and calibrated pressure adjusters. Dual calibration pressure markings allow for both speed in the initial rough adjustment and accuracy in the fine tuning. The spring-assisted, smoothly ground and plated 4" upper roll and the lathe-turned 3" lower roll are both solid steel and ride on industrial quality, long-life roller bearings. The phenolic bed plate is made of a lightweight, non-porous, non-compressible material that will not rust. It measures 23" × 36" (58 cm × 91 cm). Pull prints up to 22" × 34" (56 cm × 86 cm) on this bed. Fully enclosed steel gears drive the lower roll at a 3.33 ratio, for easy pulling of all types of intaglio (etching, engraving, aquatint, dry point) and collagraph prints, including mounted linoleum up to 7/8" (22 mm) thick. Total clearance without blanket is 1 5/8" (4 cm). Super-strength Tenzaloy castings, rather than cast iron, form the frame of the Master Etch press, another element that meets strength requirements while avoiding extra weight and the possibility of rust. The feet are pre-drilled for attachments to the Master Etch Bench or any work bench. A 1/4" (6 mm) thick cushion blanket is included with the press. Dick Blick recommends the purchase of a catcher blanket and a pusher blanket. Master Etch weighs just 250 lbs (113 kg) crated. For Your Information — We recommend that you use three blankets — a cushion, a pusher, and a catcher — to equalize the pressure and lessen the strain on the upper roller shafts of your press. You will need a catcher and a pusher. The catcher blanket should be placed directly on top of your damp printing paper, the cushion blanket on top of the catcher, and the pusher on the very top. The catcher blanket should be washed regularly so that it doesn't become stiff from the sizing. Wool Blankets — These blankets, especially for the Master Etch press, are made of fine quality, dense wool felt. Each blanket measures 22" × 36" (56 cm × 91 cm). Master Etch Bench — A sturdy bench made from 2" angle steel, it stands 28" (71 cm) tall and is 25½" wide × 27" long (65 cm × 69 cm).
